Atelier
Method, process and structure of work
Fausto Ferrara's Atelier is not an architectural firm or an independent professional organization.
It is the space in which the work is conceived, preserved and brought to completion.
Fausto Ferrara works as an author, defining the concept and spatial layout of his works—proportion, sequence of spaces, light, material—and maintaining a continuous presence throughout the entire process from idea to finished work.
His practice has developed over the course of over twenty years of activity, through a coherent and recognizable body of work that places the author's responsibility at the center.
The Atelier represents the place where this responsibility translates into process.
Here, a network of professionals from different fields—architects, engineers, technical consultants, and construction specialists—is activated and coordinated, called upon to collaborate on individual projects according to their specific skills.
The composition of the working group varies from project to project, depending on the nature of the work and the context in which it is inserted.
For the construction of projects, including private residences, Fausto Ferrara supports the client in coordinating with qualified architects and engineers responsible for technical, permitting, and executive activities, selected in consultation with the client.
In this process, the author retains responsibility for the conceptual and spatial framework and verifies its correct constructive translation, so that the finished work coincides with the original idea and does not compromise its meaning.
The Atelier does not produce standardized services nor does it operate as a business.
It acts as a guardian of the work, ensuring its continuity, coherence and integrity throughout the journey from the initial vision to the constructed material.
In this balance between thought and realization, the Atelier operates as a place of responsibility and continuity, not as a commercial mediation.
Its task is only one: to ensure that what is conceived as a work can exist in the world without betraying its origins.
